
Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Mr. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in Phnom Penh on Oct. 10, 2016. The two sides exchanged views and signed the Meeting Minutes.
Mr. Veng Sakhon noted that China's Belt and Road Initiative has provided great impetus to Cambodia's economic growth and benefited its agricultural development in particular. Vice Minister Qu said that China will speed up the development of agricultural cooperation with Cambodia under the Belt and Road Initiative, for the benefit of the two peoples.
At the meeting, the two sides reviewed and spoke highly of the bilateral agricultural cooperation over the past year. A broad consensus was reached after an in-depth discussion on the 2nd Meeting of the Steering Committee for China-Cambodia Agriculture Cooperation, S&T communication, capacity building, and agricultural investment and trade, among others. The two sides also held a consultation on China's readiness to help Cambodia formulate an agricultural modernization plan.
During his visit to Cambodia, Vice Minister Qu also met with representatives of over 30 Chinese enterprises investing in Cambodia's agriculture, and made a field study to Guangxi Guohong Development Corporation, New Hope Group and Cambodia-China Agriculture Promotion Center, among others.
